Are you going to heaven?
Being a Christian is not merely about associating with a religion or agreeing to a moral code. It means fully embracing what Scripture teaches about God, humanity, and salvation. Consider the following truths found in the Bible.

What We Teach
The biblical concept of doctrine encompasses the whole message of the gospel—its truth about God, salvation, sin, and righteousness—and a right grasp and faithful proclamation of sound doctrine is essential to the life of our church.

Below are a variety of "hot topic" issues arranged in alphabetical order that visitors often ask about when searching for a church. The statements below are not meant to be biblical defenses, but merely summary statements of what people can expect to be taught from the pulpit at Anchor Bible Church over the course of time. For a full explanation of what we believe, see our Doctrinal Statement.
Those who desire membership are not required to agree with every teaching position listed below. However, members must agree not to teach anything contrary to these positions so that unity and harmony may be preserved within the church.
We hold a complementarian view, affirming men and women as equal in value yet given distinct roles in the home and church, with only qualified men serving as pastors or elders.
Christian liberty is exercised under Scripture, guided by love for God and others. Personal convictions matter, but must not override God’s Word or be used to condemn others; true liberty seeks humility and the edification of others.
We believe elders (pastors/overseers) are biblically qualified men called to shepherd, teach, and lead the church, while deacons assist the elders in service and care without the responsibility of teaching.
Psychology, psychiatry, and cultural theories like CRT or social justice fail to address humanity’s true problem—sin—and offer no lasting solutions. Scripture teaches that true healing comes only through God’s design and grace.
Scripture teaches Christians to submit to authorities, even unjust ones, except when obedience would violate God’s Word, in which case they must follow God with humility and readiness to accept the consequences.

We believe God still works miracles, but sign gifts such as tongues were temporary and given only to confirm His Word while Scripture was being written. With the completed Bible, sign gifts have ceased, and counterfeit signs now serve to deceive.
Our church culture is shaped by God’s Word through discipleship, accountability, and worship—expressed through biblical counseling, the priority of the local church, and worship centered on preaching and shaped by truth-filled music.
Expository preaching seeks to uncover and proclaim the author’s intended meaning in Scripture, presenting God’s truth clearly to His people. Although other approaches may be helpful, we believe preaching sequentially through the Bible is the most effective way for God’s Word to be taught.
We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God, preserved by His providence without corruption of doctrine. Scripture alone is sufficient for all matters of faith, practice, and life, and faithful translations convey God’s Word with authority.
We practice church discipline to honor Christ, call the unrepentant to restoration, protect the purity of the church, and bear a God-glorifying witness to the world.
We believe marriage is defined by God as requiring one biological man and one biological woman in a new family unit publicly declared. We assert that human or governmental authority cannot change this definition.
Though Anchor Bible Church might generally be labeled as “Reformed Baptist,” we desire to be known as Christians who place all of the fallible writings of men in subjection to the infallible Word of God.
